BT suppliers were recognised at the inaugural Innovations Awards presented at the BT Tower on 29 November 2007. Over 130 entries were whittled down by BT judges into a strong field of finalists vying for six awards.
Neil Rogers, BT Chief Procurement Officer who hosted the Awards said "Companies who innovate themselves and help us to innovate will be the ones who create greatest impact on customer experience and best value for shareholders in the future".
And the winners were:-
Computacenter were judged the overall winner for its Outstanding Innovation. For their virtualisation solution to data centre capacity problems. This reduced power consumption and BT's carbon footprint, delivered greater up time, all at lower cost. It was an innovative idea, showed a great level of thought leadership, with tangible benefits for BT.
Salmor received the award for innovative ideas to reduce costs for their prefabricated joint box chamber, made of recycled materials it has speeded up installations and reduced costs.
Factair took top accolade for reducing C02 or environmental impact for their lightweight compressor delivering 60% fuel savings and reduces exhaust emissions by over 50%, both valuable reductions in BT's carbon footprint.
Motorola clinched the prize for innovative and differentiating solutions for BT's customers for their live encoding software, enabling the delivery of football via BT Vision.
StreamSheild received the award for their collaborative work with BT for its internet infrastructure solutions to develop a system that tackles spamming before customers realise they have a problem.
3M was recognised for its work simplifying BT's operations, with an ingenious lightweight network closure invention. It is quick and easy to use, making engineers work safer and simpler.

The Awards were launched in June to recognise the innovation of BT's suppliers and to encourage ideas that benefit the company, its customers and the wider world.
All suppliers who have a contract with BT and have provided goods or services to the company in the past 12 months were invited to enter the Awards.
Finally we would like to thank all the suppliers who entered the Awards, we were really impressed with the response and the innovation shown by so many suppliers. It shows the creativity and engagement of our suppliers and we are keen to recognise this for the future.
