The debate about Climate Change has moved on: the need to be taking positive action is clear. BT has set itself challenging targets to reduce our carbon footprint globally. As a company we aim to reduce our carbon intensity to a level that is 80% down on 1996 numbers by 2020. A challenging target, we have already achieved almost 60% reduction in the UK but this next level will be the really challenging step. If BT is to achieve this target we are going to have to look at everything, every opportunity, engage all our people, suppliers and resources to deliver radical solutions.
Climate Change Procurement Principles - Influencing our suppliers
We have incorporated energy consumption and environmental factors into our procurement processes.
To do this we have three Procurement Principles in BT's Procurement Governance Framework
We will ensure that our suppliers meet appropriate targets on energy consumption and environmental impact.
BT has introduced a Climate Change Procurement Standard (GS20) to drive engagement in this area. The standard sets out expectations and requirements from suppliers on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
You can view the GS20 standard below.
Our Climate Change questionnaire is about supplier engagement, we want to know what you are doing, what plans you have and what we can expect from you in the future. Supplier action on Climate Change will feed into our tender adjudication criteria.
