What BT Buys - Corporate Wear, Footwear & PPE
 

Introduction
The domain for Corporate Wear encompasses 5 product groups. These are:-

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Outer Wear
Footwear (PPE)
Formal Wear
Work Wear

Details
BT expects that any potential contractor wishing to supply Corporate Wear & PPE products must be able to meet the following minimum criteria.

1 Capacity

a. Offer the following lead-times-
3 working days for portfolio items if delivered by courier service or by day before date specified by BT Transport where BT is collecting (majority of orders)
Up to 7 weeks for all special measurements/orders
b. Provide a service in UK & Europe.
c. Provide a world-wide service
d. Agree all designs used and paid for remain the property of BT
e. Provide artwork and proofs for all designs
f. Hold Stocks 100% at your own risk
g. Provide an end to end Print on Demand solution
h. Offer weekend working to cover demand, if demand is applicable
i. Offer a delivery cut-off time of 15.30pm for next day delivery
j. Provide Emergency deliveries with in 24 hrs
k. Provide a returns process
l. Provide 100% delivery of products ordered with in 8 hours of a major incident

2 Communication

a. An ability to conduct transactions electronically via broadband, e-mail, pdf, web or equivalent
b. Willing to provide an integrated on line ordering/quotation web site
c. Willing to interface with BT's nominated site electronically
d. Attend a meeting with in 24 hours of a meeting being requested
e. Able to offer out of hours contact personnel
f. Able to interface with a nominated couriers tracking services.


3 Technical

a. Able to provide bar-coding facilities to EN128 standard
b. Able to commit IT personal to support any resulting contract
c. Have own in-house garment design department and personnel
d. Have an in-house Technical department for special measures sizing/orders

4 Environment /Ethical

a. A history of sustained compliance with environmental legislation
b. Working towards Compliance with iso14001, or equivalent environmental standard
c. Working towards Compliance with an Ethical sourcing Policy

5 Experience

a. Operated in current form of business for at least 5 years
b. Able to work with BT as a partnership to develop products
c. Have the necessary personal with experience on PPE and garment development/manufacturing
d. Willing to undertake wearer trials at supplier's own expense

6 Expertise

a. Provide 5 clients who BT may contact for references/performance feedback
b. Account Manager & Advise Service contactable between 0830-17.30 weekday
c. Dedicated Help Desk Facilities

7 Finance

a. A turnover in excess of £5milion per annum
b. Insurance for liability to the value of £5 million
c. An ability to accept payment by BACS
d. Provide a copy of latest Report and Accounts
e. Provide an open book costing policy
f. Provide all invoices, estimates and quotations in GBP
g. Able to provide a single composite invoice on a monthly basis

8 Information

a. A willingness to provide contract information as may be agreed
b. The capability to provide reliability and whole life cost information

9 Legal

a. A willingness to trade under English law
b. Acceptance of BT's Terms and Conditions

10 Quality

a. A previous record of good performance in terms of quality and delivery
b. A proven track record of quality improvement
c. Compliance with BS/EN/ISO9000 or equivalent quality standards
d. Procedures for Sub-contractor evaluation and selection on Quality
e. Evidence of policy to actively enter for Industry awards

11 Safety

a. Operate a Health and Safety Policy
b. A history of sustained compliance with Health & Safety legislation
c. Compliance with Safety related legislation COSSH
d. Provide a Safe Method of Working Statement
e. Provide details of HSE Improvement/Prohibition notices with in the last 3 years

12 Additional Services

a. Any additional services offered

13 Processes

a. Flow chart mapping the course and quality checks of a typical job originating from ordering, receipting, pick and pack, packaging delivery and confirmation of delivery
b. As above, but for returns

14 Contingency Planning

a. Details of emergency contingency plans to maintain service levels & performance.

15 Implementation Plan & Time-scales

a. High level action plan which incorporates key tasks and timeline.

Current & Forthcoming Requirements


BT currently has a contract in place for the supply of Corporate Wear, Footwear and PPE products, which is due to expire in 31st March 2011. However we are continually looking for innovative solutions and developments, particularly those that will further enhance our performance and / or improve our revenue returns.
