What BT Buys - Network Installation Procurement
 

Introduction

The role of Network Installation Procurement is to manage the procurement of BT's civil engineering, copper and fibre cable and overhead rectification installation activities in our external UK network. We place the service contracts and manage the commercial interface with our Suppliers, agreeing additional requirements and any changes to specifications, process and other terms during the life of the contracts. Annual spend across the three areas is currently in the region of £250 million PA.

 

Details

The scope of services bought and managed by the Unit includes:

Civil engineering works e.g. duct laying, jointing chamber construction, cabinet erection, excavation and reinstatement work, blockage location and clear, moleploughing.

Copper and fibre cable works e.g. cable jointing, joint remakes, cable length renewals, cable recovery, fibre splicing, cabinet provision & renewal, maintenance and repair activities, verification of copper pairs.

Overhead rectification works e.g. pole renewal, dropwire renewal, aerial cable work, block & tail renewals, fitting of customer network termination equipment, pole reinstatement.

Other services comprise signing, lighting and guarding and ancillary wiring and cabling on customer premises.
